"Tips for a Successful First Visit to the Groomer"

Thank you for chosing me as your groomer! Please use the following tips to make our partnership for your pet as smooth as possible!!

Quality care and positive experiences are a must!

Start Early

Introduce your pet to grooming at an early age when possible to help them become familiar with the process. Keep the first visit as short as possible if there are any signs of stress with your pet to make sure they get into a habit of knowing this is a good thing and temporary. Even if your dog is older its not too late to start a new routine.

Provide all necessary information

When possible, please fill out on-line intake information, such as vaccine information, any allergies, or anything that might be helpful to predict your pets reactions for their visit. Also helpful if you list any sensitives or prefereances you have as well. Any concerns or questions please reach out to me directly, we are working together to make this the best!

Prepare your pet

Dogs and cats know more words then we give them credit for so be careful when chosing your words when its thier day to come in. Use excited, happy tone of voice, and reassure them you are coming back, and give them a treat when you pick up, or get a pupcup at your favorite spot. Pets learn routines pretty quick so doing small things like playing with them an extra 5 mintures before and after helps them understand this is a fun time, not a scary time. Until you know for sure your dog doesn't have any car sickness I would hold off on feeding right before you drop off, especially if you are not able to come back when done right away so we do not interrupt any potting training schedules.

Be open with communication

Please understnd that grooming can be a new and potentailly stressful experience. especially if they are not used to being touched and handled in certain ways. Be patient and realistic in your expecations, and not be surprised if your dog needs some time to adjust. Sometimes the feeling of them getting all their hair cut at once can cause them to have sensations they are not familiar with. I cannot stress enough though to reach out with questions in regard to how we can always try to improve our plan to help with any issues that come up.
